In April of 2000, I mentioned the wonder of a trebuchet to friends and, Distraction Labs once again arose to create something. Something that is dangerous and, something of no practical use. Something that would distract.
A month later, after the initial plans were created, we started work on the trebuchet. The enemies to this plan were vast: rain, flu, the Seattle International Film Festival, and too much beer but, we prevailed and, trebuchet v1.0 was born (yes, a boring name but, it is but a tool).
With the help of: Caleb Baker, Ryan Johnson, Jim Kelnhofer, Diana Dills, Klaas Langhout, we set about creating this device. After reading other web pages showing trebuchets, we decided that safety was paramount. Solid construction, keeping both the front and rear of the trebuchet clear at all times when beam brought down/loaded (to a distance equivalent to the estimated throwing distance * 1.5), only throwing objects that would not cause serious harm if, ahem, it accidentally hit something. The adventures of this trebuchet will be filled in here, check back later.
